The Electrical, Electronic and Communications Contracting Award covers businesses that install, commission and maintain electrical and communications systems on contract. That includes electrical contractors working on construction sites, commercial fit-outs and domestic wiring, as well as firms handling electronic, instrumentation and data and communications work. The workforce runs from apprentices and electrical assistants up through licensed electricians, electrical fitters, cable jointers and instrumentation technicians, with grades reflecting trade qualifications and responsibility. Rates are set across the electrical worker grades, capturing both the on-site trades and the technicians who keep electronic and communications equipment running.
